Approximately 40 miles west of Chicago, Otter Cove Aquatic Park is situated in the James O. Breen Community Park on the corner of Campton Hills and Peck Roads in St. Charles, Illinois, just a short distance away from Vital Wellness Center in Elburn, Illinois. This community pool is managed and maintained by the St. Charles Park District. Otter Cove Aquatic Park is open seasonally, so please check with the park concerning their schedule before heading over.
The central theme of Otter Cove Aquatic Park is focused on a river otter and his friends. It features a 25-yard pool, zero-depth entry activity pool, a toddler pool, and a splash park with water wheels, spray cannons, and dumping buckets. It also offers a sand/water play area and rides with fun twists and turns through the water that kids will certainly love. There are many exciting activities that are sure to please every water enthusiast ranging from the most active cannon baller to the more relaxed and laid-back floater. Try racing down the salamander slides or having fun floating around on an inner tube along Turtle Creek. Check out the Dragonfly Den, the Frog Bog, or play some sand volleyball for a little fun in the sun.
One of the great things about swimming here is that each pool is heated. The preferred water temperature for all swimming areas ranges between 80 and 86 degrees. Safety is also a top priority at Otter Cove Aquatic Park. The lifeguards are trained under StarGuard Elite, which is an aquatic risk prevention agency that is recognized globally for its superb instruction methods and certification. Lifeguards are required to complete and pass a training program for rescue, AED use, administration of oxygen, CPR, and emergency procedures.
Otter Cove Aquatic Park also offers one-on-one instruction with specially trained swim instructors at Sensory Cove for children on the autism spectrum. This environment is free of sensory overload with only a small group of people in attendance and minimal water features in use during lessons making it a comfortable learning experience for the kids.
