Proven Techniques

We have studied and mastered a number of chiropractic techniques to provide optimum care for people of all ages to meet your specific health needs. Please read the following in order to learn about our most commonly used techniques.

If you have been exposed to a specific technique that you enjoy, please make us aware so that we can deliver the type of results that you DESERVE!

Vital Wellness Center

Activator

This technique is one of the most popular “low force” approaches to chiropractic in the world, because we use an adjustment instrument called The Activator Methods® Adjusting Instrument, which is a handheld spring-loaded tool that delivers a consistent low-force, high-speed thrust. This is extremely beneficial for elbows, wrists, knees, and other joints of the body.

ArthroStim

This handheld device delivers precise low force adjustments with a frequency of 12-14 light taps per second. This frequency is also known as the Schumann resonance. The Schumann resonance is often referred to as the earth’s background base frequency, or “heartbeat.” To optimize healing within your body, a harmonization and rhythm must be established. It has been found that the Schumann resonance is just such a healing frequency. All this must sound a bit complicated, but the main thing to remember is that chiropractors have been getting fantastic results working with patients with all types of different conditions using a very light, very safe, and most importantly, very effective technique.

Diversified

One of the techniques that we use at our practice is the most commonly used adjustment technique by chiropractors, as it is characterized by a high velocity – low amplitude thrust. Diversified is considered the most generic chiropractic manipulative technique and is differentiated from other techniques in that its objective is to restore proper movement and alignment of spine and joint dysfunction. This form of spinal manipulation consists of a short, fast force applied to the specific joints to instill motion, stretch surrounding muscles, and stimulate the nervous system. Diversified adjustments use a specific line of manual thrust that goes deep into the joint. This corrects mechanical distortions of the spine or joint within the joint cavity and also stretches the soft tissue, which may have formed around the misaligned joint. By adjusting the spine or joint, and thrusting it into its proper position, the fluids and tissue move more freely and are distributed properly within the joint, which can ease pain and discomfort. There are extensive research studies that prove the efficacy and safety of the chiropractic adjustment.

Extremity Adjusting

We recognize that treatment of the whole body requires synchrony between the nervous system and the mechanical control system of the kinetic chain. Subluxations of any joint have both neurological and mechanical components.

Many patients suffer repetitive subluxations and nerve entrapments because the mechanical component is ignored, leaving root causes undiscovered and untreated. The goal of extremity adjusting is to easily diagnose and treat these injuries, incorporating both neurological and mechanical treatments.

Mechanoreceptors are embedded in the tissues surrounding joints. When these tissues get stretched by a misalignment of the joint, this activates an inhibition or weakening of the adjacent muscle. Discovery of these weak muscles and correction of the misaligned joint to restore normal strength is a specialty of this technique.

Gonstead

Named after its developer, Dr. Clarence Gonstead, this approach came from his engineering background. His “foundation principle” explains how a subluxation pattern in one area of the spine can produce compensatory changes in another. During the evaluation phase, we will perform a full spine x-ray and precise analysis. In addition, we will use a small heat-sensing instrument in order to assess the differences in temperature, which could be slight or even extreme. The final step during the analysis is palpation where we feel the location of individual bones and how they may differ from their normal position. To adjust your lower spine and pelvis, we’ll have you lie on your side. Subluxations in the middle back are corrected as you assume a comfortable kneeling position. When you are seated, we can restore the integrity of your spine without twisting or rotating your neck. Gonstead Technique is consistently acknowledged as one of the safest systems of evaluating your spinal well-being.

Koren Specific Technique

The Koren Specific Technique is a low force directional adjusting protocol. In simpler terms, it means there are no heavy manipulations, no ‘cracking sounds’ and no discomfort whatsoever. This new method is ideal to work with all ages, from newborns to the elderly, even people with osteoporosis or other degenerative spinal conditions. The key to successful use of the KST method is the Arthrostim adjusting tool.

Thompson

This technique was developed by Dr. J. Clay Thompson and has completely evolved into one of the most utilized approaches because of its precision and results. With this being said, this technique is extremely unique because it requires the use of an adjusting table that actually moves with the adjustment, allowing for decompression of the disc and a natural healing approach for those who are suffering from pain. This is a specific chiropractic technique that uses mechanical and hands-on manipulation/adjustment which is primarily utilized to treat cervical and lumbar disc herniation, non-disc spinal disorders, and to increase mobility of spinal joints.

Toggle Recoil

While you are in a totally relaxed state, usually lying on your side, a high-speed, low-force thrust is delivered to the upper bones of your spine and the hands are quickly withdrawn. This allows the body to use the energy as it sees fit to “reset” the spinal joints.
